Comment: I served on the De Soto Cty from 69-70. I met a lot of good people on that boat. I've lost contact with all of them tho. Looking back on the years, my time on that ship was some of the best of my life. I left a bunch of good buddies behind when I left. You know who you are. My best to each one of you. I hope the years have been prosperous for you.

Comment: I was on the Desoto County 1964-65 I think. I must of come on after the Great Lakes cruise but I did make some Cherry Point and San Jaun stops. I was a third class enginman and was in charge of #3 engine room. For some reason I was only there about a year and then transfererd to Purto Rico on a Tug boat as chief engineer.

Comment: I served on 1171 from about 66 to early 68 and would certainly like to hear from ole shipmates,
I was a BT-3 and Oil & Water King. I served in Vietnam before serving on 1171. Went on leave from Naples to Rome durning Med with a group from the ship, would like to here from anyone who went. Had such a good time ...forgot everyones name. Cheers John

Comment: I was GMG3 on the USS DE SOTO COUNTY in 1964-1967, left the Navy and the DeSoto County in 1967.

Comment: Sanerved on the Desoto County 1958/1961 they to make an engineman out of me but i didnot go for that I finaly made MR3 after a yr. in the bal. pump room got transfered to USS Okinawa LPH3 WHOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANY OF THE GUYS THAT REMEMBER ME.
