Historic Railroad Hiking Trail
About 30 miles from Las Vegas, near the City of Boulder City, there is a historic trail that is perfect for a hike that is mellow, scenic, and historic all in one.

*This trail opened in 1995 and runs along the edge of Lake Mead National Recreation Area. When Hoover Dam was completed in 1935, the tracks that carried supplies to the dam work area were removed. The trail is about 4 miles long, along with views of the Lake. You will frequently see desert chipmunks, bighorn sheep, jackrabbits, and other desert animals.
*Walking through the old railroad tunnels is also quite exciting. This is a good way to enjoy the beautiful desert nature of Las Vegas and get in some blood-pumping steps.
*The trail is open 7 days a week, however, there are less people during the week. During the spring and summer months, you will want to go before 8 am to avoid the heat. Be sure to dress appropriately and take plenty of water.
*There are other trails in the Lake Mead recreational area, I highly recommend you give them a try if you love nature and hiking!
Renting a car is recommended.
